Just a little something to show you what Kathy Drew, our Machine Mastery Instructor and Master Quilter has been up to lately. Kathy LOVES to digitize her own designs. This is one of the designs from her upcoming Embroidery CD of designs for children’s clothing and quilts. Her first batch of designs is at her printers and due out by the end of July. Stay tuned for more information and when these CD’s will be available at our store.

Applique your quilts…. with an embroidery machine!!

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Add a new dimension to your quilting….

This quilt was done using designs from a cd that can be appliqued or embroidered.  When using machine embroidery applique, you do not need to cut small pieces of fabric. You simply lay the piece of fabric on the hoop, the design is sewn on, fabric is trimmed, then completed with the satin and decorative stitching. Unique and precise results will make you say “WOW, I did that”!!

Reeta did this quilt on the BERNINA 830!

It’s a mystery……

Same quilt…. different looks!! It is so fun to see the quilts come to life as the day progresses.

Posh Poodle Quilt – FINISHED

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Diane has finished this adorable quilt… the kits are ready to go. Her tips and tricks include using Steam-a-seam 2 as a “pattern”, finger pressing the Steam-a-seam to the applique, cutting it out,  NOT ironing it down and removing it (to use again) and using Roxanne’s Glue Baste it to temporarily put it on the background (GREAT IDEA Diane!!)  She used her Bernina Foot #20, the open embroidery foot, to stitch down the designs and her walking foot to machine quilt her project. Diane used Minkee for the back of the quilt and prefers to do minimal machine quilting on Minkee! This is a fun project.
