A big apology from the Blog Department at Gina’s Bernina for not getting to Blog much the past 10 days. I have a good excuse… it has been crazy busy here during the East Tennessee Shop Hop!! But today, I came in early, got some coffee and started to think about Blogging!

We have been demonstrating “TEXTURE MAGIC”. Check out the examples Ginny Hatfield has sewn using this fantastic product. This makes a great accent on bags, yokes, dimensional quilting….. and very EASY! Come in anytime  and check it out if you didn’t get here during Shop Hop.

RAINBOW around the block……

Anna Maria Horner is organizing a quilting project for families in Middle Tennessee who lost their homes to flooding. She is accepting unfinished 12.5×12.5 inch blocks  preferably in a monochromatic color scheme or two harmonious colors in any patchwork style that you’d like. You may make as many blocks as you would like to make!! She is organizing  Nashville volunteers to help assemble into quilts. Her mother, MaryLynn Demacopoulos will be collecting them on July 2, August 2 and September 2. You may bring the blocks to Gina’s. For more detailed information visit annamariahorner.com/rainbow.html or contact rainbow@annamariahorner.com

Whew…. what a week it was!

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Wow! We are tripping over empty bolts of fabric still scattered throughout the store from last Saturday’s 50% off sale. Busy is putting it mildly. It was lots of fun. Thank you to all who took advantage of our sale. Of course today I sit surrounded with brand new fabric that just came in the back door. In the back and out the front – isn’t that a motto for retail? Keep in mind, we love you to bring it back in the front and show us your fabulous finished or almost finished :) projects.

Just what is surrounding my desk as I write this blog??? Below is a sampling of the sweet collection by Moda Fabrics called Fresh Cottons. Come in and see…. I think Jessica ordered the majority of this charming collection. Wouldn’t it fun to make a simple big block quilt with the whole collection? Of course, there are many patterns that lend itself to this collection here too.

Just what is making us very hungry at Gina’s today?? Well, it’s our table of Jelly Rolls, Honey Buns, Layer Cakes, Turnovers, Dessert Rolls, and Charm Packs at a great price through Friday, May 28!

You may be wondering…. what are they talking about? Well here are some definitions to help you out in the wonderful world of “PRECUTS”:

Jelly Rolls: Bundle of 2 1/2 inch wide strips, cut across the width of the fabric. They generally have 40 strips.

Honey Bun: Bundle of 1 1/2 inch wide strips, cut across the width of the fabric. They generally have 40 strips.

Layer Cake: Packet of 10″ squares, 40 per packet

Charm Pack: Packet of 5″ squares, usually 35 – 40 per packet, but the number can vary from 22 to more than 50.

Turnover: Packet of 6″ half square triangles; each packet contains two triangles of each of 40 fabrics for a total of 80 triangles.

Dessert Roll: Roll of 5″ wide strips, cut across the width of the fabric. There are 10 fabrics per roll.

These precuts not only save you time, but allow you to see many different fabrics in the collections. We have coordinating yardage of our collections as well. Come peruse our fantastic variety of books and patterns that use the precuts too. You will soon be baking up a quilt in your sewing room! Saves on calories too :)
