Jelly Roll Rug in Brentwood

Join Libby for a two-day class where you’ll learn how to turn a fabric jelly roll and batting into a beautiful, artful rug. Start small with a rug perfect for an any space or keep connecting strips to create a larger rug for a den or living space.

This versatile technique doesn’t stop at rugs—once you learn it, you can use it to make tote bags, purses, and more.

Before Class Preparation

Before sewing your strips together, plan your color placement. You might choose a light-to-dark layout, with lighter fabrics in the center and darker fabrics toward the outer edge—but the design is entirely up to you.

Sew the strips together at right angles, similar to quilt binding. Trim seams, press them open, and you’ll end up with one very long strip of fabric. Fan-fold the strip and bring it to class. Having this prepared allows us to jump right in and start sewing!
