In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to layer fabrics, blend colors, and build eye-catching shapes to create a one-of-a-kind art piece. No experience needed--just a love of color and a willingness to play! You'll go home with a finished or nearly finished collage and lots of inspiration for your next project.

PRE-CLASS PREPARATION

Begin looking for a pattern  Laura Heine from Fiberworks has many to choose from that are colorful and with many different themes that will surely inspire you  We have her patterns at Gina’s and order one just for you you  

Fussy-cut your motifs ahead of class. Look at your collection of fabrics and start the process of cutting different shapes and colors. Fuse Steam-a-Seam 2 on the back of your fabric before you cut the motifs. Iron-on per instructions and then cut out the motifs. Ask us for help at Gina’s!

What is a motif? It is a flower or animal or house or clock or any object printed on fabric.

What is fussy cutting? Cutting out each motif around its edges.

Cut MORE than you think you will need. grab a box and start filling it. We will be layering these beauties, so you will want to have plenty to work with. And you might want to trade with some of your classmates.

Supply List:

At least 2 yards of Steam-A-Seam (no exceptions from this brand--no Heat and Bond)

Lots of Motifs from different fabrics: small, medium, and large but no larger than 4 inches.

Scissors--I recommend Karen K Buckley 

Appliqué Pressing cloth

Tweezers 

Depending on the size of your pattern, yardage of Pattern-ease to use as foundation material.
