Corrie's Dress Class: A Wardrobe Story for Girls

Please scroll all the way through these instructions as you will need to purchase supplies prior to each class.

Skills you’ll learn by taking all three classes:

• How to use and read a basic pattern.
• How to use the basic pattern to make various designs by adding ruffles and frills.   
• How to add design elements such as sleeves, pockets, collars and trims.
• How to combine different fabrics and colors to add variation to the dresses.    

Supplies needed:

• Sewing machine – complete with all the different feet and attachments
• Serger – optional 
• Basic sewing supplies: pins, scissors, seam ripper, marking tools, measuring tape, sewing gauge.
• Thread to coordinate with your fabrics.
• ½ yard of interfacing

Pattern:

• Victoria pattern from Children’s Corner Store – available at Gina's.

Fabric:

• Use the pattern as your guide to determine how much fabric to buy according to the size/age of the girl.

• Week 1:    Sleeveless dress with pockets

                           1 1/2 yard of cotton fabric

                           3 buttons (size -  1/2")

                           Optional:  1 yd trimming for pockets or 1/4 yd of contrasting fabric

• Week 2:     Sleeveless dress with ruffles and frills

                            1 3/4 yard of cotton fabric (Liberty Tana Lawn fabric)

                            3 buttons (size - 1/2")

                            Optional:  3 yds of lace/trim/piping OR 1/2 yd of contrasting fabric 

• Week 3:     Dress with sleeves/ruffles and a collar

                            1 3/4 yard of cotton fabric (Liberty Tana Lawn fabric)

                            3 buttons (size - 1/2")

                           1/2 yd of contrasting fabric to make piping and cuffs. 

Bring a snack and something to drink on each day of class.
