Delight in the anticipation of Christmas morning as you stitch these Tiled Stockings by Cynthia Frenette to hang by the fireplace! Each one features a heartwarming seasonal sentiment and colorful illustration, making them your most eye-catching holiday decorations yet! Fill them with festive treats and watch your family enjoy your wonderful machine embroidery creations! We will be making the red stocking in class. The first session is for the embroidery steps and the second session is for the sewing and construction of the stocking.

•          #26 for embroidery
•          ¼” Patchwork Foot (#37, #57 or #97) for sewing

BERNINA Hoop

•          Large Oval or Midi Hoop (I like the Midi Hoop, if you have one!)

Fabrics:

•          Outer Stocking fabric - 1 ½ Yards of non-directional green quilter’s cotton
•          Lining - ½ Yard of quilter’s cotton
•          1 fat quarter - blue

•          OESD Heavyweight Tear Away
•          OESD Ultra Clean and Tear Away
•          OESD Fuse and Fleece
•          OESD Fusible Woven (can substitute Pellon SF-101)
•          OESD Fuse and Fix (can substitute Steam-a-Seam or Heat and Bond)

Notions and Tools:

•          OESD Expert Point and Press Tool
•          OESD Perfect Embroidery Press Cloth
•          505 Temporary Spray Adhesive
•          Sewing Pins or Wonder Clips
•          Small Scissors to cut threads
•          Rotary Cutter, small ruler that is at least 6” long
•          Fabric Marker
•          Best Press

Threads:

•          Isacord Thread as per Thread Chart
•          Bobbin Thread (White or Off White)
•          Extra Bobbin with any color that contrasts sharply with back of tile…time to use up partially those wound bobbins you might have!

Needles:

•          75/11 Oregon Sharp Embroidery Needle for your Machine
•          Small Hand Needle to close Lining Opening

Pre-Class Prep Instructions

Have these steps done before class so you will be ready!

1.     Purchase and Download the Design you plan to make on a USB Stick.

2.     Print in color the PDF Instructions File that comes with your design.  Be sure your printer is set to 100% (no scaling of the design).

3.     Clean, dust and oil your machine.

4.     Attach a new 75/11 Sharp Embroidery Needle and Foot #26 to your machine.

5.     Wind a FULL bobbin (white or off white is fine).

6.     Cut a strip of Outer Stocking Fabric 15” x WOF and spray with Best Press. 

7.     Press it until dry, then cut and fuse a strip of Fusible Woven (or SF-101) to the back of the entire strip.
8.     Blue fat quarter for bird applique
