Hot Pads 4 Ways!



Who doesn’t love a gift for the kitchen?  Sew one or all of these quick but creative hot pads which will be used for years to come.  Make a coordinated set by bringing a pre-cut layer cake – all the projects use 10” squares!

FABRIC

  • A layer cake of 10” squares (a full layer cake of forty 10” squares makes up to six different hot pads) OR 1/2 yards of at least six different coordinating non-directional cotton fabrics
  • A package of thin 100% cotton batting (a craft size package will work)

 

RULERS

  • Creative Grids Hexagon Trim Tool by Jean Ann Wright OR an 8 ½” Hexagon Ruler of choice [such as the Jaybird Quilts Large (not mini) Hex N More Ruler] 
  • Square ruler (10”) to cut squares (no need to bring if you are using a layer cake)

 

SUPPLIES

  • Sewing Machine (don’t forget your power cord and foot pedal)
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Rotary Cutter
  • Sharp Scissors and Thread Snips
  • Optional:  rotating cutting mat
  • Optional:  ¼ Inch Foot (or ¼” Foot with Guide) and/or a walking foot
